Philosophy
Programme outcome:
PO1: Analytic outlook: This ability develops proper study of analytic philosophy. It helps to form the capacity to analyze various situations in life.
PO2: logical and critical attitude: Study to logic helps to think logically and critically. The student can argue and evaluate in a constructive way.
PO3: Ethical thinking: The course introduces the moral concepts of good and bad, right and wrong. It helps to form a strong foundation of character personality.
PO4: Communication skill: A student develops the capacity to communicate with others, understand an issue from different perspectives and find out a rational solution.
PO5: Philosophy and society: study of philosophy helps to develop an integrated and holistic view of life and world.
SEM-1 core course
1. PHI-HC-1016-Indian Philosophy
The study of Indian philosophy helps the students to get acquaintedwith different school of Indian Philosophy.
2. PHI-Logice-1026
By studing logic students get acquainted with the use of logical rules for identifying a valid argument.
SEM 2
3. PHI-HC-2016- Greek Philisophy
By studing Greek Philosophy students get acquainted with the various trend of Greek philosophy.
4. 2026-Logic
Symbolic logic the value of special symbols, truth-functions, various kinds of statement forms are the core areas of study. The course helps the student to know above the methods of deduction and to prove the validity and invalidityof arguments.
SEM 3
5. PHI-HC-3016-Western Philosophy
By studing Western Philosophy the student can explore the important philosophical theories like Realism, Idealism, Phenomenology etc.
6. PHI-3036- Ethics
By studing Ethics student get acquainted with various ethical concepts like Good, Bad, Right and wrong. It helps to from a strong foundation of character and personality.
SEM-4
7. PHI-HC-4026-philosophy of religion
The course helps the students to understand the different religioustraditions and their implications .
8. PHI-HC-4036-Political and social Philosophy
This particular course convers the primary concepts of social and political philosophy like society, community, family, caste and class. This course is designed to develop interest among the students about the contemporary social issue and concerns.
9. PHI-HC- 5016-Anualytic Philosophy
The study of analytic philosophy develops the ability of analytic thoughts. It helps to form the capacity to analyze various situation in life.
10. PHI-HC-5026- Phenomenology and Existentialism
This particular course helps the student to know the existential philosophy. The study of this course broadens the mind, improves the ways of thinking to see a phenomenon and in to enables to see ahead and define researches posture through intentional study of lived experience.
11. PHI-HC-6016-Philosophy of Mind (Western/Indian)
12.This paper enable the student to know about the philosophical problems of the Mind and Body relation.
Skill enhancement course
Logical reasoning and Application:
The main objectives of logical reasoning legal language, its nature and functions, inductive and deductive reasoning in law are the thrust areas of study. It has both theoretical and practical content. It helps to develop reasoning ability an analytic out look towards various life situation.
Course Outcome
An extension activities is jointly organised by the Department of Philosophy and the Department of Home Science at the School named 109 Parlley Balak L.P. School. In this activities the resource person delivered a lecture on Yoga and Health and Hygine. All the teachers, students and parents were participated on this occasion. A good response was found from the school authority

From 15th June to 30th June 2023.
The Department of philosophy jointly organised a 30 hourse Add on Course on Yoga with the Department of Education, Dakshin Kamrup Girls' College, Mirza. The Department of Philosophy, Chhaygaon College took initiatives in this programme as part of MoU that is focus on 10th april 2023. In this programme altogether 66 students participated. Out of them 4 four students were from the Department of Philosophy Chhaygaon College, 1 student from Dakshin Kamrup College, Mirza.
This Add on Course co-ordinated by Mr. Kamaleswar Borah, Department of Philosop[hy and Dr. Mitali Kathkatia, Department of Education with active participation of the faculty members of both departments. Course instructors were Miss Kanika Das and Miss Arundhati Das from Ramananda Yoga Centre, Maligaon.

The Philosophy Department organised a National Lecture on 03-08-2022. A renoun scholar name Dr. Shubhra Jyoti Das, Department of Philosophy Visva Bharati University Santi- Niketan, west Bengal delivered a valuable lecture on the topic: “Axiological Dimension in the Thought of Vivekananda’s Practical Vedanta”. No of students who participated: 77.
During the time of Covid Pandemic the philosophy Department organized an webninar on 5th August 2020. The topic of the webinar was “Coping up with exam stress amidist Covid- Pandemic”. The resource Person was Mr. Pradip Khatoniar Associate Prof. Dept. of Philosophy, Cotton College . There are 105(Hundred Zero Five) students participate on the occasion.

During the time of Covid Pandemic the philosophy Department organized an webninar on 5th August 2020. The topic of the webinar was “Coping up with exam stress amidist Covid- Pandemic”. The resource Person was Mr. Pradip Khatoniar Associate Prof. Dept. of Philosophy, Cotton College . There are 105(Hundred Zero Five) students participate on the occasion.
The students of B.A. 6th Semester Major Course have to do a project under their 6th paper which is Compulsory. They are given to choose a topic within their syllabus. Each project bear 75 marks with viva. They take the project under the supervision of a teacher belonging to the Department. She/ He guides the students in doing projects and selecting a topic. After completing the project they submit it to the Head of the Department. After examining the project the Department organized viva through an External Evaluator and gives marks for the project paper. The marks have to send to the Affiliated University Examination Controller.
Under the CBCS Course the students of 3rd Semester, 5th Semester and 6th Semester students of Skill enhancement Course is continued.

2. Project Report -2018-to2022(CBCS)
The students of Philosophy have to undertake projects for their Skill Enhancement Course.
