One Day Workshop on Basic Internet and Email
11-08-2023Department of Economics of Dakshin Kamrup Girls' College, Mirza organised a One Day Workshop on Basic Internet and Email on 21-06-2023 at the computer lab of the college. it was a day long programme from 10 AM to 4 PM followed by a Lunch Break from 1 to 2 PM. there were 47 numbers of participants along with some faculty members of the institution. The workshop was conducted by MR Manjit Kalita, Instructor Compupter Lab on basic internet seacrch and email communication. the participants are highly benefitted through the programme.

MOU WITH PASCHIN GUWAHATI MAHAVIDYALAYA, DHARAPUR
18-08-2023An MOU has been signed between dept. of Economics,DKGC and the Dept. of Economics of Paschim Guwahati Mahavidyalaya .Dharapur in the presence of Principal of the college on 08/06/2023.
The MOU will help both the colleges to organize faculty exchange programme, student exchange programme and to organize seminars, certificate course etc. jointly . Through this MOU, we can shar knowledge and information and resources , whatever it may be for the benefit of students and teacher. Principal of Dakshin Kamrup College, Dr Narakanta adhikary and Principal of Paschim Guwahati Mahavidyalaya .Dharapur, Dr Rana sarma signed the MOU for further exchange and co-operation .The faculties of both the institution were presenr on the occasion.

Certificate Course on "Economics for Competitive Examinations”
04-07-2023Department of Economics, Dakshin Kamrup Girl’s College, in Collaboration with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Guwahati Chapter has organised a 30 hours Certificate Course on "Economics for Competitive Examinations” From 7th June 2023 to 14th June 2023 A Total of 43 Students of our college and also from Paschim Guwahati College successfully participated in this course. The Resource persons from the ICS Guwahati Chapter Ms.Nidhi Jain, Ms. Plabita Mout and Ms Anuja Sarma delivered their speech alongwith interaction with students about various Topics on development, and. Banking, Sustainable development employment Opportunities. Dr. Kumud Bhagawati, Retired Professor Economics of D.K. College, Dr. Namita Devi Associate Professor Economics of Paschim Guwahati College and Dr. Manasree Das of DK. Girl’s college also participated. as resource person. The whole Programme was inaugurated by, the principal, D.K.G.C Dr. Narakanta Adhikary on 7 th June and It was ended on 14th June with a valedictory function where Certificates are distributed to all the participants

FIELD VISIT TO SIKARHATI VILLAGE TO CONDUCT SURVEY ON “SHG & ITS ROLE IN BUILDING ENTREPRENEURSHIP”

Department of Economics organized a field trip to Sikarhati village to do a survey on “SHG & ITS ROLE IN BUILDING ENTREPRENEURSHIP” on 22.03.2023.Students of final semester conducted a survey on the basis of a questionnaire prepared and 20 SHG of Rani Block of South Kamrup region gathered there as part of their monthly schedule. The students also came to know about the functioning of SHG, how they collect money from each member ,and the procedure to sanction loan to the members, provision of fine for not attending SHG meeting etc.On the basis of the survey , our students prepared report where the problems faced by SHG, purpose of taking loan and its uses,etc are mentioned.

One Day Counselling programme on Banking Examination
31-08-2023The Department of Economics, Dakshin Kamrup Girls' College, Mirza organised one day conselling programme on Banking Examination on 13-09-2022. Minakshi Tahkuria, Employee of Assam Gramin Vikash Bank and Alumnae of Dakshin Kamrup Girls' College, Mirza was the resource person of the programme. The Resource person provided the syllabus and the study materials for the banking examination. She also provided some online resource material to students for the banking examination. She mainly spoke about the mental preparedness of the students for the banking examination. total 52 students participated in the counselling progrmamme.

EDUCATIONAL TOUR TO HOHUA AND SAMARIA SATRA
18-08-2023DEPARTMENT OF Economics organized an one day educational tour to one of the famous tourist place of South Kamrup, ‘HOHUA” and also to a famous religious cum tourist attraction Samaria Satra on January 2022. Four of our faculties and 22 students participate in the day long programme. The objective of the programme was to make the students aware about the tourist places of South Kamrup, and what steps can be taken to increase tourist flow in these places without damaging ecological balances.
Students were asked to collect data and evidences related to environmental economics paper and tourism potential of the places .In Samaria Satra the students saw the original hand written religious script of Vaishnava religion of Mahapurush Sri Sri Sankardeva.

FIELD VISIT TO HAJO IN KAMRUP DISTRICT TO HAVE AN IDEA ABOUT BRASS AND BEII METAL INDUSTRYY
18-08-2023BRASS AND BEII METAL INDUSTRY is one of the major small scale industry in Assam and Hajo of Kamrup district is famous for it. There almost all household are engaged in this industry and the entire process is carried out with hand by using very small machinery if necessary. In order to give an exposure to this industry and to give the students an opportunity to understand the entire process of the industry , the Dept of Economics organized a field visit to Hajo in Kamrup district on 09.02.2021 , so that he students can learn the entire process of making different items ( from day to day utensils to decorative items). We visited the several houses where the household members are engaged in this industry and the students saw the process of making different items from raw materials ti finished products. We also try to understand their problems and scope of marketing their products its future prospects etc.

PROGRAMME ON BUDGET PROMOTION (2018) PLAN AND PUBLICITY IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION
18-08-2023Today on 29-01-2018, as per Assam Govt. initiative for BUDGET PROMOTION (2018) PLAN AND PUBLICITY IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION a team of Assam Govt officials organized an awareness programme in collaboration with Economics Dept. of DKGC.Sri Purnendu Sarma , Finance Officer , Govt. Of Assam, discussed in detail the proposed budget for the next financial year, and also called for advice and suggestions from students and audience which will be considered for inclusion in the proposed budget. The other members of the team, Mrs Ira Devi and Sanjib Medhi also discussed about the proposed budget. The programme was very interactive and fruitful with a quiz competition among students & teachers. At the end Pof jinu Das, HOD , Dept. of Economics offered vote of thanks.

On 30-10-2017, a meeting was was organized by the Dept of Economics to observe WORLD THRIFT DAY. The meeting was presided over by Prof Jinu Das , HOD, Dept Of Economics. Prof Jinu Das and Other faculties of the Dept. Dr Nibedita Devi. Prof Indrani Devi and Dr Manashree Das delivered spoke about the necessity of spending economically, habit of saving from day to day spending, benefit of small savings, and different govt. schemes available for small savings and micro savings facilities. The students present joined in the interactive session and try to clarify their doubt about thrift and showed interest to grow the habit of small saving by avoiding unnecessary spending also to spread the message to their family so that spending economically may lead to small savings and can help their families to a great extent in times of necessity.

21-06-2023Dept. of Economics in collaboration with IQAC of D.K. Girls’ College organized a lecture programme where eminent personality Dr Hiranya K. Nath Professor. Dept of Economics & International Business, USA delivered a talk on” Economic Development of Assam Myth & Reality “on 04.08.2017. Where, about Sixty students & faculty members participated. The programme concluded with an interactive session at the end. Students of neighboring colleges also Participated in the programme and interact with the resource person.
